Data Protection

Preventing confidential data from being transmitted outside your organisation can be a daunting task as trusted staff need to have the required levels of access to perform their job.

Whilst auditing access to shared files and folders can provide important logs of who accessed what and when, it does not prevent the access to begin with.

There are a number of systems we use to minimise the risk of data loss, which include:

-File Access Monitoring (Auditing); This enables us to monitor user access to centrally stored or shared files and folders and set alerts if a user accesses large numbers of files within a set time period.

-Levels of access and smart file sharing; Giving users access to only the files they require to perform their job.

-Firewall rules and service blocking; This enables us to block p2p file sharing applications, Instant Messaging or other file sharing programs or websites.

-Screening Email; This facilitates the removal of particular attachment types, or limiting outbound attachment sizes

-Disabling mass storage devices; This prevents the use of removable media which can be used to copy confidential company data.

A solution that effectively reduces your risk of data loss across all business processes must combine comprehensive monitoring with prevention.

In addition, it should stop transmissions that violate security, acceptable use, and privacy policies before they leave the network.
